Sugikoujou Furniture Factory

A family-run furniture factory founded more than 150 years ago. Now does everything about furniture making, from catering the logs, designing, manufacturing and sales. The warehouse is an archive of the works of the craftspeople who worked there.

They hire locally. Now the third to fifth generations of the same famiy employees work there. Also highly skilled craftsmen are working on special order models. They use natural oil finish and apply manual work in details to ensure safety for the users, many are children using their study desks.

The factory was started by the ancester of Sugi family, who was an individual craftsman. In the 1920s and 30s, they were taking orders from the government to produce school and sports equipments.

They have an exhibition room where they also sell products of the collaborated designers. Also organize factory events.
