Omura Pottery

He moved in to a small mountain community in Ukiha about 15 years ago with his wife, who is also a potter. Their house is in a remote area and becomes very cold in winter. They have to participate in local rituals and community works, which was something new to them right after they came. They had two children in Ukiha, who commuted to a small village school.

He sells via internet, by participating in small joint shows with other artists in big cities. He also travels to China (before Covid) as he has a growing customer groups there. His clients are high-end restaurants in other cities and sometimes overseas.

He studied in another town up in the north of Japan. His “master” was a modern-art ceramist. He also tries to seek the point between conceptual art objects and everyday table ware.
