Seki Wirework and Antiques

The couple moved to Ukiha from another big city 25 years ago. While running their antique dealing business, Masao Seki started creating art pieces using the leftover wires found in a warehouse. Now his works are seen in galleries and restaurants all over Japan.

Their shop is a gallery of found objects from Japan and the world, selected and curated by Masao. The presence of him as a curator attracted many younger creators and curators to the area, some of whom moved in to start their own businesses.

They also work with local makers like the furniture factory to create their own producrts, as well as hold exhibitions of other craftsmen and artists from the area and other cities. What they present is influencing the tastes of Ukiha’s other shops and galleries.
